The collections "Americas" of the Museum Art & History are considered among the most beautiful and the richest of European museums. If the public knows quite well the different cultures of the Andes (Peru, Bolivia and Chile) thanks to their ceramics, goldsmiths and mummies, it does not have a clear image of the way these people lived and were dressed. Textile had a special status because it was considered an extremely valuable good: it was used not only to dress, but was also a symbol of power and identity and could serve as an offering or exchange.

This exhibition will give you the opportunity to admire the magnificence of certain textiles, the quality of goldsmithery and the beauty of the plumasserie of the pre-Colombian past. It will also be an opportunity to discover the mastery of the art of weaving, the sophistication of certain patterns, the very diverse and vibrant colors still today of these fibers and feathers. By discovering their wardrobe (shoes, clothes, headdresses and jewelery), visitors will be able to meet these people of the past in their daily lives and admire exceptional pieces, of high quality, very colorful as well as an impressive goldsmith's work.

In addition, all the works will be presented in an attractive scenography thanks to the reconstruction of pieces of architecture of the Andes but also of cotton field and burials. There will also be a course for children and educational events.

Around 200 objects from our collections, from Linden-Museum Stuttgart, MAS Antwerp and private collections from Belgium will be exhibited around a theme never before presented. A public expo that will put you in full view!
