Presentation of the book "Il giovane Enrico"
We discuss this with the authors Andrea De Simone and Tonino Scala, with the presence of the honorable Sandro Ruotolo, PD MEP and member of the PD National Secretariat.
A novel, but also a contribution to better understand this extraordinary figure who, even today, fascinates, intrigues, and questions. We are in the aftermath of July 25, 1943, in an Italy still at war, with fascism still alive and widespread poverty. And it is in this Italy that a young boy, Enrico Berlinguer, makes his life choices: to commit to the working classes and join the PCI. And here, Tonino Scala and Andrea De Simone tell us about the two fundamental stages, at two very close moments in 1944: in Sassari, with his joining the PCI and with the bread riots that saw him as a protagonist and imprisoned, and in Salerno, with his father Mario, the meeting with Palmiro Togliatti from which his active commitment to the Youth Front and that of a lifetime would be born.
