The Quartet La Plaisanterie by Joseph Haydn and Eine musikalische Spaß by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart humorously highlight the classical tradition. The second part of the concert explores the parody of The Flying Dutchman by Richard Wagner by Paul Hindemith, the Romance for Horn by Leone Sinigaglia, and the Second String Quartet by Erich Wolfgang Korngold.
