Pollutants from the Garden to the Polar Regions
Since industrialization, the pollution of our soils by harmful substances has continuously increased. While heavy metals and persistent organic compounds have been the main issues in past decades, our soils, including gardens, have increasingly been contaminated by microplastics and PFAS. As many of these pollutants are difficult to degrade, they are now found even in the most remote areas of our planet, such as polar regions.
