Lecture presented by Stéphane DADO, a delegate of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège and an expert in the history of musical practices in Nazi camps. The talk will specifically delve into the integral role of music within the camps and the unique and tragic history of the women's orchestra at Birkenau, led by Alma Rosé.
Good to know
The Birkenau women's orchestra was active from April 1943 to November 1944. It is the only all-female orchestra to have existed in the history of concentration camps.
