Located 4 km from Arlon, the Clairefontaine Abbey was a monastery for Cistercian nuns, founded in 1247 by Ermesinde of Luxembourg and built by her son Henry V. It was chosen as the necropolis of the Luxembourg comtal house and houses the tomb of Ermesinde, uncovered in the 19th century. Destroyed in 1794, bought in 1875 by Jesuits, and occupied until 1968, it is now maintained by an association. During the Heritage Days, the abbey opens its doors, offering a rich program about its history and its medicinal garden.
