Food Policy Councils are innovative and effective instruments because they combine public action with market initiatives, as well as innovations from civil society and research: a democratic body composed in a pluralistic manner and serving the common good of food, which consults on food issues and builds bridges between actors in the food system who do not usually discuss among themselves.
