Revolving around a repertoire as varied as it is stellar, Satellite puts a constellation of
different styles and playing methods, and thus invites its audience to journey through the sonic space of the instruments
string ensemble. Winner of the 2025 Supernova Prize, the ensemble boasts solid stage experience, having
produced at Bozar and during the Ars Musica, Propulse Musiq3 or Klarafestival festivals.
This new program is dedicated to composers who continued to write music under repressive and authoritarian political regimes: whether it be Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, exiled to the United States to escape fascism, Sofia Gubaidulina, a resistance fighter against the Soviet government that judged her music "irresponsible", Gideon Klein, deported to the Theresienstadt camp before being exterminated at Auschwitz, Irene Britton Smith, an African-American composer who lived during racial segregation in the United States or Mieczysław Weinberg, imprisoned because of the anti-Semitic policies of Stalin's government… The discovery of these artists and their string trios will certainly not leave you indifferent because, if the compositional framework is dark, brutal and imbued with suffering, the music itself is resolutely alive and luminous, a true ode to resistance and freedom.
