On May 10, 1940, Luxembourg was occupied by German armed forces. Subsequently, measures were taken to culturally integrate the country into the Reich. The Conservatoire was transformed into the Luxembourg National Music School: the music was to be German, and women were generally expected to stay at home. However, women were significantly represented among the teaching staff. What impact did this occupation have on their lives and musical creativity? Did they adapt to retain their positions? Were they forced to flee? Did they express resistance in their compositions? Were their works still performed?

As part of the "Klangbilder der Stadt Luxemburg" project, the history of female musicians in Luxembourg is explored and revived musically. During this concert-conference, students and teachers from the City Conservatoire perform pieces by Luxembourgish female composers from the wartime period.
