At the end of their creation process, the trio enjoyed a residency at neimënster – a decisive moment that gave their music its final shape before their presentation at the Enjoy Jazz festival.
The instrumentation recalls the European piano trio tradition: a keyboard instrument, a string instrument, and a melodic voice. But here, there is no violin or clarinet: the saxophone is at the centre of the stage, with all its complex sound and unique expressivity.
Alexandra Lehmler (saxophone), Apollonio Maiello (piano) and Jörg Brinkmann (cello) form a true chamber music unit, where the precision of composition meets the openness of improvisation.
Guided by a shared sensitivity to structure, timbre, and listening, the trio unfolds a deeply nuanced musical dialogue. The harmonic sophistication of Apollonio Maiello’s piano meets the lyrical and percussive playing of Jörg Brinkmann’s cello, while Alexandra Lehmler’s saxophone lines, colourful and often voice-like, bring relief and movement. Between classical architecture and jazz spontaneity, their music weaves a subtle link between tradition and the present, composition and improvisation—with curiosity, depth, and a taste for the unexpected.
