Reading and discussion with Elise Schmit on the occasion of the release, during the Leipzig Book Fair 2026, of her second collection of short stories at Luchterhand-Verlag.

"Allgemeine Zweifel am weiteren Verlauf" brings together nine stories about people trying to overcome existential fractures in their lives and regain a livable everyday life during this era of "polycrisis." This book is about the search for meaning, togetherness, and a language that can describe the world adequately.

Elise Schmit (born 1982 in Luxembourg) writes short stories and plays. In 2019, she received the Prix Servais for her collection "Stürze aus unterschiedlichen Fallhöhen" and was a fellow at the Literarisches Colloquium in Berlin the same year.
