Orchestre à soi is a sound and documentary installation dedicated to unjustly forgotten female composers such as Hildegard Von Bingen, Francesca Caccini, and Alma Mahler. Designed by Léa Chevrier and Laureline Amanieux, the installation immerses visitors in a three-part experience: a sound piece highlighting songs written by women composers since the 12th century, a participatory karaoke, and a documentary series retracing the lives of eight major female composers.
Good to know
The installation was produced by Circé Production et Narrative, in partnership with the Centre National de la Musique and with the support of CNC Talents, Procirep-Angoa, SACEM, the Normandy Region, France Télévisions (France 3 Normandy), the DRAC Bretagne, the City of Paris, the Rennes City Creation Grant, and the Ministry of Culture. The project was a winner of the Rennes Métropole Cross-Creativity call for projects and a 2025 finalist for the Numix Prize in Quebec.
