"I love water, but in 20 or 30 years there won't be any left..."
(Jean-Claude Van Damme, 2010)
This statement made by Jean-Claude Van Damme in an interview might make us smile, but 16 years later, it turns out he wasn't entirely wrong. Unfortunately.
The cause is climate change, which leads to an increase in episodes of heavy rainfall, causing more and more flooding, and periods of drought that are more frequent and longer than before, threatening our drinking water supply.
Since households consume 60% of the total volume of drinking water, consumers have a significant lever for action to better protect this precious resource.
That is why the City of Esch – with Transition Minett – invites you to participate in the 3rd Citizens' Climate Forum with the theme of water in the face of extremes: droughts, floods and resilience.
The objective of this forum is to promote citizen participation and to initiate a dialogue between the City of Esch and civil society on the issues related to climate change and the necessary adaptations.
