Urban History: Art Nouveau in Ville Haute
Echoing the exhibition Vu Lilien a Linnen currently at the Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart and dedicated to Art Nouveau in Luxembourg, this guided walk offers an exploration of the Belle Époque architectural gems in the city center. Art Nouveau, which promotes craftsmanship in reaction to new building materials (iron, glass, and concrete), led to the emergence of two schools: the School of Industry and Commerce and the State School of Artisans. Participants will observe how this movement, situated between innovation and tradition, is expressed architecturally by the release from historicist influences.
