International events in the amphitheater with Wiltz Castle as a backdrop.

Since its inception in 1953, this unique open-air theatre, with the castle as its backdrop, has been the annual gathering place for internationally renowned artists, theatre companies, and musical ensembles. In 1953, a handful of Wiltz residents had the extraordinary idea of creating a festival in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. From theatre, they naturally gravitated towards music, and it became clear that a connoisseur and enthusiastic audience responded eagerly to this initiative. Thus, the Wiltz Festival has been able to present some of the greatest artists of our time to its audience, for the first time in our country.

In 1991, a retractable roof was installed, covering most of the stage and providing shelter for a thousand spectators. This solved the problem of bad weather and allowed spectators to enjoy extraordinary acoustic conditions.

Good to know

A Food Village is located directly at the entrance to the festival square and opens one hour before the start of each event.
