Coronavirus: what you need to know about the new measures in force from Monday

On Saturday, the positivity rate in Brussels was 9.5%. A figure well above the Belgian average (4.4%).

Following the surge in contamination figures in Brussels, the nineteen mayors were summoned on Saturday by Viviane Scholliers, the senior official (the equivalent of the provincial governor) of the district to Brussels Prevention and Security.

Horeca

After nearly three hours of debate, a strengthening of the measures was decided. As of Monday, bars and cafes will have to close by 11 p.m. at the latest. The authorities' proposal was originally 10 p.m., but it was rejected by the majority of the mayors who thus intended to support the hospitality industry as best as possible.

Gatherings

It will be forbidden to gather on the public highway to more than 10 people from 11 pm to 6 am. This measure comes into effect for at least three weeks. An evaluation meeting is already scheduled for October 6.
