In the region of Calabria, the authentic charm of mezzogiorno (not to be mistaken with mozzarella), or Southern Italy, is still alive and strong. YES, you can speak with your hands if you want to, but we are not sure you’ll do it right, so stick to use them to put their delicious food into your mouth!
Located at the tip toe of the boot, take bae with you and travel among the long and narrow peninsula which features many romantic seaside villages that are the locals’ favourite hideaways.
Since you know us, you must know we love food! So you can trust us when we tell you to try the local tartufo dessert - a magical dish but if we have to put it in a category it would be: an amazing-great-fantastic-mind blowing ice-cream bomb with a surprise inside!
And if you really want to play it romantic or just want to show off to granny, head slightly inland into the Serre Mountains, and at 800m high (just when your voice get a little bit higher) take the pilgrimage path to the sacred Santa Maria del Bosco, a sanctuary amongst the trees, with a tiny pool and an 18th-century church: that’s the spot you’ll use to make bae (or once again, granny) dream her/his eyes off!
Jutting out of the promontory is the “Pearl of Calabria”. Tropea is quite possibly the prettiest town on the coast, how do we know? It won a beauty contest! It’s built right on the edge of the steep cliffs at 42m high, once again – your Instagram career awaits just you! On a good day you can even see Stromboli waving at you & scarring the horizon in the distance, cool, huh?
Finish your tour a little further south at Capo Vaticano’s finest beaches, Grotticelle and Tonicello. If you are looking for us, we’ll be bubbling on a terrace with a refreshing apertivo! We can also babysit grandma if you want! Uno Spritz per favore!
