As you can feel, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. But what about an Italian Christmas? Il Ponte marks the start of the festive season in Milan! As soon as December 7 has come, the festivities can start as well! The long weekend – known as il ponte – kicks off with a special mass at the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio, as well as the snappily-titled Fiera Degli Oh Bej, Oh Bej market held in the grounds of Milan's castle, Castello Sforzesco.
If you want to show your Italian skills, don’t just shake your hands in any way, but instead, look at the beautiful displays by saying "Oh Bej! Oh Bej!" (So beautiful!), you’ll be more credible than trying to copy their hand gestures – nobody can do it better than them!
To keep in the festive spirit, Milan’s Christmas markets, then kick off from 11th December until 6th January, popping up all over the city, each with their own atmosphere, varying wares on sale and activities on offer like ice skating. If you are not convinced yet, you might listen to Rudolph, Santa’s buddy, rumor has it that he is half Italian!
