The visit to the Fort Flémalle is rich in emotion and history, during which you will discover the scars of the violence of the enemy bombardments of the 1st and 2nd World Wars. It is one of the most massive forts of the fortified belt of Liège, during the 1st World War, Flémalle is one of the last forts of Liège to suffer the bombardments of the German army. And, during the 2nd World War, it constituted an important support for the Belgian army, before laying down its arms on May 16, 1940. The huge craters are still visible today, and allow you to realize the impressive impact of the bombardments. The little +: The Fort has an exceptional museum, where you can discover authentic Belgian weapons, equipment and uniforms. An entire room is dedicated to American women pilots, something unique in Belgium and not to be missed!
