Originally, the fairs were religious festivals celebrated in honor of the patron saint of the local Christian church or the day of its inauguration, which gradually transformed into funfairs with bumper cars, carousels, food stands and games of skill for the pleasure of young and old. Thus, neighborhood fairs are today part of our traditions, our culture and our intangible cultural heritage.
In addition to these facts, neighborhood fairs are places of conviviality, socialization and meetings. It is there where young and old, new and old residents meet, talk and integrate.
To keep this local heritage alive, the City wishes to support, or even revitalize, neighborhood fairs by associating fairgrounds and local clubs and associations since in certain neighborhoods, unfortunately only the “Fair Sunday” has remained. On the other hand, in others, the neighborhood squares are always transformed once a year into places of fun and pleasure, shining with a thousand lights and giving off the smell of cotton candy, under the purr of the rides and the cries of joy of the children.
