Upon my first reading of the book, I was speechless, reports Leonard Bernstein after reading Wystan Hugh Auden's long poem, "The Age of Anxiety". The composer then fervently set the subject to music, written shortly after the Second World War. From it, he created his eponymous "Symphony No. 2" for solo piano and orchestra, a personal quest evoking landmarks and faith in the face of numerous crisis situations. This concert is recorded by radio 100.7 and will be broadcast live.
