Concert Actart: The Guitar and the Mandolin in the 19th Century
The 19th century, the golden age of the romantic guitar, saw a great number of virtuoso guitarists and composers for this instrument, which is the closest ancestor of the modern guitar. This concert will feature some beautiful pieces from the rich repertoire for duo or trio of romantic guitars, as well as several original works for mandolin and guitar, notably by the famous violinist and composer Niccolò Paganini, who is often overlooked as an excellent guitarist.
