An impressive system of fortifications, largely vanished since the Treaty of London in 1867, defended Kirchberg and protected the fortified city. Engineer Vauban, who supervised the 1684 siege works, developed a project to strengthen the fortress. The museum offers two-hour guided tours of these fortifications.
