Janina Bruegel & Sigrid von Lintig. Born in Nürnberg, Germany, in 1983, the artist Janina Bruegel currently lives and works in her hometown again after having spent significant periods of time in Cambridge and Barcelona. Initially, she studied medicine and successfully completed her studies before devoting herself to her second great passion at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Nürnberg. Her work focuses on the human being - its complexity, its contradictions, its deep vulnerability. At first sight, the paintings appear cheerful: bright colors, bright patterns, an almost overwhelming joie de vivre. However, this superficial cheerfulness is misleading. A closer look reveals that there are scratches in the surface - fragility, disappointment, and quiet despair emerge from behind the facade. The characters appear happy but carry a noticeable burden. This ambivalence is rooted in the artist's dual perspective: as a doctor, she is familiar with life's extreme situations, and as a painter, she translates these experiences into intense, multi-layered pictorial environments. Her art is a dialogue between intimacy and distance, between medical responsibility and artistic freedom - insistent, challenging, and at the same time deeply human.
