Mitsu was born from the waves. Out of love, she followed a sailor to the Isle of the Islanders, a people who fear the ocean as much as those who come from it. From their union were born two children, Ame and San. But when love dissolves into tears, Mitsu finds herself alone, a stranger on a land that accepts her only halfway.
Every night, she watches over her children and confronts invisible monsters: the mailbox, a harbinger of bad omens, or the washing machine, a devourer of time. Wilfred, on the other hand, leads a double life. By day, he is an ordinary employee trapped in a cramped office. By night, he transforms into a great red lion and runs across fields and forests, finally free to be himself.
When Mitsu and Wilfred meet, a new love blooms. But Wilfred’s arrival coincides with that of a threatening shadow lurking around the home. San and Ame are convinced: this shadow can only come from Wilfred himself. Is he a danger ready to take their mother away from them? Or is their fear merely the mirror of their own doubts?
