The BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL in India is fully geared to the needs of wealthy, elegant Britons. They are supposed to spend their retirement here and be pampered with luxurious amenities. At least, that's what they were promised. However, the seven guests who believed these promises and now stand in front of the hotel, seeking change and relaxation, which doesn't seem particularly prepared for their arrival. Even though hotel manager Sonny Kapoor (Dev Patel), who inherited the elegant building from his father and wants to transform it into a luxury hotel, enthusiastically talks about upcoming "improvements" – electricity, telephone, and running water are still a long way off. Accordingly, the destitute Evelyn (Judi Dench), the disillusioned former Supreme Court judge Graham (Tom Wilkinson), the perpetually feuding couple Douglas (Bill Nighy) and Jean (Penelope Wilton), Muriel (Maggie Smith), who arrived only for a hip replacement, and Madge (Celia Impire) and Norman (Ronald Pickup), who are looking for a new love, are stunned. India, full of contrasts, equally beautiful and strange, traditional and modern, also confuses the newcomers. But after a while, they begin to form friendships and have new, unexpected experiences...
