EXAMPLE OF THE MAJESTAS DOMINI FROM CODEX AUREUS EPTERNACENSIS In the past, monks sat at their desks to copy and paint the Bible in words and images, drawing closer to heaven. Under the expert guidance of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Fleckenstein, a slightly simplified form of manuscript painting (comparable to icon painting techniques) from the Codex Aureus Epternacensis, the Majestas Domini—a depiction of Christ the Judge of the World at his return at the end of days—is created on genuine parchment with gold leaf and pigments. The course is led by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Fleckenstein, a passionate icon painter for over 20 years and a leader of icon painting courses for more than 15 years. He has authored several publications.
