Following the successes of Dragons (21-22) and Koshigi Monologue (23-24), Eun-Me Ahn, a leading figure on the international choreographic scene, returns to the Grand Théâtre with her new creation, Post Orientalist Express. In this piece, she delves even deeper into the rich traditions and fluid movement of her continent to question and reimagine representations of Asia. On stage, nine dancers, including the Korean choreographer herself, move among legends, vibrant costumes, music, and popular culture, confronting Orientalist clichés head-on, subverting them into a form of absurdity, and highlighting their inherent contradictions. Post Orientalist Express is an invitation to collectively explore, in a joyful and colorful explosion, what a shared cultural and choreographic identity might be, or even a space for dialogue between East and West.
