Through a series of animated vignettes taken from recorded conversations, Endless Cookie traces the life of two half-brothers, one Indigenous and the other white, from the urban excitement of 1980s Toronto to the remote Shamattawa community in northern Manitoba (Canada).
The film’s nine years of production become part of the story: spontaneous appearances by Pete’s children, dogs and unexpected visitors, as well as adventures featuring chickens and bear traps, mingle with darker moments that invite reflections on family, identity and the lasting impacts of colonization.
This offbeat documentary echoes the irreverent spirit of the US channel Adult Swim, blending quirky humor and sharp observation through psychedelic animation. Seth and Pete take the audience on an absurd, often hilarious journey that never loses sight of the sociopolitical realities that shaped the brothers’ childhoods.
