After her parents' divorce, Vladlena (the director) leaves Crimea at the age of six to settle in Grozny, Chechnya. Her life is soon upended by the armed conflict in the region: the war transforms her city, threatens her family, injures her mother, and eventually forces Vladlena to flee and become displaced in Russia. Later, as a filmmaker, she revisits these traumatic moments with a unique aesthetic approach. The film offers a narration in which memory, marked by trauma, brings images to the surface, generates new ones, and reconstructs the precious memories of a childhood and a people threatened with erasure.
