A photographic documentary giving a voice to four Lebanese trans women, "Treat Me Like Your Mother" traces their journey from the first state-supported gender affirmation surgery in 1997 to the disappearance of safe spaces. Mixing personal archives, home-made videos, and testimonies of the protagonists, the film explores the little-known history of the trans community in Beirut. This is the debut film by photographer Mohamad Abdouni, winner of the Lafayette Anticipations Prize in 2023, and it highlights often overlooked voices, offering a collective and supportive portrait of the trans community in Beirut.
