Cactus Pears - LuxFilmFest 2026
After his father's death, Anand, a thirty-something city-dweller, returns to his native village in Maharashtra to observe a ten-day mourning period. Surrounded by insistent relatives, he faces questions about his marital status. There, he reunites with Balya, a childhood friend who leads a farmer's life. In this rural setting, full of traditions and social pressures, an intimate and tender relationship develops between them, forcing Anand to choose between his family's expectations and the truth of his heart. With this moving debut feature film, Rohan Parashuram Kanawade adopts the rhythm of mourning through remarkable cinematography and a queer romance that takes beautiful detours.
