Colombia, late 1980s. A team of television journalists heads to the outskirts of Medellín to investigate strange lights seen in the sky by local residents. Their camera is quickly stolen by a group of marginalized teenagers, who turn the lens on their own dangerous adventures. After a robbery goes wrong, the four teens delve into the depths of Medellín, documenting crime and urban violence on the fringes of society. A provocative portrait of marginalized youth, Barrio Triste channels the raw, frenetic energy of Harmony Korine while revealing the inner despair of teenagers. The relentless vision of Stillz, shaped by his experience as a music video director, is amplified by ARCA’s electrifying soundtrack.
