A powerful drama set in Port Talbot (Wales) about wild schoolboy Richie Jenkins who dreams of becoming an actor. His father is an alcoholic miner; however, his teacher Philip Burton recognises his raw talent and sees his potential, tutoring and transforming him into Richard Burton—Wales' greatest star, who later said of Philip Burton, 'I owe him everything.'
