The illustrious and epic opera Nabucco, composed in 1841, an early work by Giuseppe Verdi and also the Italian composer's first major success, marks the operatic debut of director Christiane Jatahy. Jatahy revisits the biblical story of the destruction of Jerusalem and the exile of the Jewish people, highlighting themes she explores throughout her work: the voice of the oppressed, identity, and forced migration. The chorus is that of Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, and the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Gaetano Lo Coco, a young and passionate conductor who has proven himself with singers such as Plácido Domingo and Erwin Schrott.
