The CALAMINE exhibition is the culmination of a research and collective creation residency led by students from the ZÀD – ZONE À DESSINS studio at the École Supérieure d’Art de Lorraine – Metz campus, at the Bridderhaus. Supervised by artist and teacher François Génot, each year the ZÀD workshop develops a collective artistic project with a new partner. For 2025-2026, the Bridderhaus has become the hub of this initiative, hosting a residency in southern Luxembourg, an area shaped by rich industrial and steelmaking history and now undergoing social, urban, and ecological transformation. The multidisciplinary works examine the traces left by the industrial and steelmaking era in the Esch-sur-Alzette valley and beyond. The students immersed themselves in the area, met local residents, experienced multiculturalism, and explored the consequences of industrial progress.
