The Hugo Pratt – Imaginary Geographies exhibition, presented in Liège in 2026, is a direct continuation of a landmark exhibition held at the Palazzo delle Papesse in Siena in 2025, under the same title. This Italian exhibition, produced with the rights holders of Hugo Pratt's work and leading cultural partners, enjoyed significant public and critical acclaim.

Thirty years after the author's death, it confirms Pratt's central place among the great European authors of the 20th century and the ability of his work to reach very wide audiences, well beyond the circle of comic book enthusiasts.

The exhibition, mounted in collaboration with the company Cong SA in Switzerland and the Italian company Opera Laboratori, offers a complete immersion in the world of Hugo Pratt, humanist author, tireless traveler and creator of the mythical character of Corto Maltese.

The exhibition brings together: original drawings and authentic watercolors; archives, notebooks, objects and ethnographic artifacts that nourished the author's imagination; audiovisual content; immersive scenographic devices; the screening of his first animated feature film; as well as an exclusive soundtrack illustrating the musicality of the author and his works.

The exhibition also features the largest bookshop relating to the author and his work, as well as a real Cafeteria that will pay homage to the author's Italian roots and tastes.

The exhibition is structured around several major themes – veritable "entry points" into the work – addressing in particular:

– travel and real and imaginary geographies,

– literary and cinematographic influences,

– history and geopolitics,

– the place of women in Pratt's universe,

– the relationship between drawing, storytelling and freedom.

Through this cross-disciplinary approach, the exhibition goes beyond the strict framework of comics to include a cultural, artistic and societal reading of the work.
