Projection - The Ghost Army, 2013 par Rick Beyer
During World War II, a hand-picked group of American GIs undertook a unique mission: to create traveling deception performances on European battlefields, with the German Army as their audience. The 23rd Headquarters Special Troops used inflatable rubber tanks, sound trucks, and artistic performances to repeatedly fool the enemy, often near the front lines. Many of those selected were artists, some of whom later became famous, including designer Bill Blass. Their secret mission remained classified for nearly 50 years after the war.
The screening will be preceded by a guided tour led by curator Charles Wennig and will open with a presentation by Benoît Niederkorn (Director of the National Museum of Military History, MNHM) introducing the themes of the documentary.
