Orchestre à soi
- exhibition

What do Hildegard Von Bingen, Francesca Caccini and Alma Mahler have in common? They are composers who have been unjustly forgotten. Religious prohibitions, social constraints, and historical erasure imposed silence on women composers and creators. To introduce their music to as many people as possible, artist Léa Chevrier and director Laureline Amanieux created an exhibition in the form of a sound and documentary installation. The experience unfolds in three stages: a sound piece to discover, a karaoke to participate, and a documentary series to understand. Step into a 'ghost orchestra' to hear a spatialized electroacoustic piece mixing songs written by women since the 12th century. These voices are played through vibrating music stands. Around you, transparent veils and wooden prints reveal portraits, letters, journals, and dreams of female composers. Learn song excerpts through the karaoke and add your own voice to the installation! Finally, watch a documentary series depicting the lives of 8 great female composers and discover why, despite their brilliance, they were erased from history.
