Literary Tuesdays - Nicolas Bouvier
- poetry
- conference
An evening hosted by Luisa Bevilacqua, Robert Weis, and Florent Toniello. Swiss author Nicolas Bouvier (1929–1998) wrote many poems throughout his travels around the world. However, he only published one poetry collection during his lifetime, "Le Dehors et le Dedans" (Wat baussen a wat bannen, in the Luxembourgish translation), which consists of 44 texts written between 1953 and 1997, frequently reissued. Michikusa Publishing, a Luxembourg publisher specialized in poetry, now offers this travel literature classic in Luxembourgish, translated by Robert Weis and Florent Toniello, with the support of Nico Helminger. During the evening, Luisa Bevilacqua will read Nicolas Bouvier's poems in Luxembourgish and discuss with the translators Bouvier's poetics, travel as a metaphor for life, and Luxembourgish as a literary language.
