In his Beethoven biography, the Belgian conductor and biographer Jan Caeyers presents a scientifically based reconstruction of the love story between Beethoven and Josephine von Brunsvik, a noble piano student whom Beethoven was never able to marry. This tragic story ended with Josephine's death in 1821. During the performance “Beethovens unsterbliche Geliebte”, Jan Caeyers will recount the whole story in a captivating manner. He portrays Beethoven as a sensitive and vulnerable artist who succeeded in turning these deeply human emotions into the most beautiful music. The story will be interspersed with fragments from famous piano sonatas (the Pathétique, the Moonlight, the Appassionata), played by Kit Armstrong, one of today's leading pianists.
