The exhibition "Not Today" presents recent works by Sam Krack (born 1993, LU) and marks his second solo exhibition at Valerius Gallery. Sam Krack's work focuses on the hyperrealistic reproduction of overlooked images from everyday life, such as insurance claim photographs, online ads for second-hand objects, and cluttered domestic interiors. Through slow and meticulous techniques such as oil painting, engraving, and sculpture, he elevates these banal and often disposable images into carefully constructed artworks. His new series "Not Today" directly references On Kawara’s famous date paintings, replicating their format but inserting clusters of dates, creating a playful and reflective dialogue on language, conceptual art, and the passage of time. His practice combines appropriation, irony, and tenderness to question how images acquire meaning and value within contemporary consumer culture.
