Sumi-e is traditional Japanese painting created with India ink. You will learn to play with the dilution of the ink to achieve different shades of black. You will practice your skill in working with the strength and speed applied to the brush to get the desired thickness and sharpness of the lines. You will also learn to use Sumi-e materials, while improving your posture and concentration skills. Materials: brushes, Japanese paper, ink, inkstone, paperweight, felt, draft paper. The instructor will introduce the materials in the first session; no purchase is necessary before the first class.
