- History
The Arlon region lies at the crossroads of the Romance and Germanic worlds, a dual culture that has shaped its history. The former Luxembourgish dialect, brought by the Franks from the Rhineland, as well as written German, are now threatened with disappearance. Bertrand Dondelinger, coordinator of the book « Si le pays d’Arlon m’était conté », looks back at the origins of Germanic culture in the region and its main traces in place names, family names and local traditions.
