It's not over - From perimenopause to menopause to postmenopause
- conference
A talk led by Diane Elsen, menopause coach and vice-president of Lëtz Ménopause, followed by a guided tour of the "It's Going On" exhibition at the Luxembourg City Museum 🌹 Menopause is a natural and inevitable stage in a woman's life. However, the most common symptoms — such as hot flashes, night sweats, fatigue, sleep disturbances, irritability, problems with concentration and memory, as well as joint pain, etc. — still too often remain taboo or misunderstood. Today, a woman spends approximately one-third to one-half of her life in perimenopause and postmenopause. Although menopause is not an illness, its effects can have a considerable impact on personal and professional life. As such, it is a major public health and equal opportunity issue that must be fully recognized and taken into account within diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) policies. A better understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying symptoms, the elimination of prejudices, and the identification of the essential pillars of a healthy lifestyle—such as diet, physical activity, sleep, and stress management—will allow women to approach this transition phase with greater peace of mind. At the same time, this will help women make informed decisions to preserve their health in the long term, both now and in the future. This conference is part of an awareness and dialogue initiative aimed at promoting more inclusive work environments in which women's health at all stages of their lives is recognized as an important factor in well-being, performance and equal opportunities.
