After several months of closure due to extensive renovations, Galerie Go Art is delighted to announce the resumption of its activities. For this reopening, the opening evening will be marked by the vernissage of the exhibition “ AORTA”, devoted to the previously unseen works of Théid Johanns and Vincent Tartarin. Théid Johanns is an enduring figure on Esch’s artistic scene. Entirely self-taught, multidisciplinary and deeply committed, he develops an art that is willingly provocative, strange, rebellious, and sometimes even absurd… To do so, he paints, sculpts, photographs, repurposes, collects and amasses. The pieces presented in the exhibition brush up against the infinitely small, the almost invisible, the insignificant, captured as if through the lens of a microscope. It teems, proliferates, lives. And it is precisely through this shift in scale towards the macroscopic that Théid immerses us in compositions that challenge us and invite us to look differently. To observe what ordinarily escapes our gaze. To see life emerge where we do not expect it. Vincent Tartarin, for his part, works with steel to give birth to sculptures with human silhouettes, at once powerful, slender and strangely light. His forms first emerge in drawing, before gradually taking shape through the working of steel tubing, bars and strips, assembled and welded to form a genuine skeleton. Drawing on his experience as a tattoo artist, Vincent Tartarin explores an anatomy intentionally stripped of any specific identity. His figures are androgynous, without defined sexual characteristics, so that everyone can project their own perception onto them. Only the head, often geometric, retains a more abstract form, thereby distancing the sculpture from portraiture and leaving room for a more universal presence. Through bodies with singular proportions, sometimes oversized limbs and postures suspended between movement and stillness, Vincent seeks less to represent the human being than to bring forth a form, a presence, an emotion. Two worlds, two forms of expression, two ways of looking at life and the body: “AORTA” thus opens a new chapter for Go Art, after these months of imposed silence. A reopening that will, above all, be a way to reconnect with the artists, the works and the public in a spirit of great conviviality. Nathalie Becker
